Autumn Apple Cinnamon Bread

This recipe means a lot to me since my mom and I make it as soon as fall rolls around. It’s easy to throw together, and the only thing we usually have to buy are the apples. Warm, simple, and always comforting. – Kiley Bureau

Instructions:

  1. Make the cinnamon sugar: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

  2. Prepare the apples: Peel and chop the apple into small pieces. Set aside.

  3. Mix the butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, use a hand or stand mixer on low medium speed to mix the softened butter and granulated sugar until combined and slightly grainy.

  4. Add wet ingredients: Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and slightly runny.

  5. Add dry ingredients: Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Then pour in the milk and mix gently with a spoon until everything is incorporated.

  6. Layer the batter: Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Spread half the batter in the bottom, then top with half of the apples and half of the cinnamon sugar. Repeat with the remaining batter, apples, and cinnamon sugar.

  7. Bake: Place on the center rack and bake at 350°F for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  8. Cool and serve: Let the bread rest in the pan for 10 minutes before removing. Slice and enjoy warm, plain or with butter.
